Personal Traits:
Personality:
All business. Angelica's strict
upbrining still holds...most of the time! A
self-professed workaholic, she takes pleasure in her
work, allowing herself to immerse herself in it so
much that it becomes her life. She doesn't partake of
many recreational activities, though she's been known
to enjoy a baseball game or three, and was delighted
to discover a field on the Station. She's skilled in
a Ninjitsu/Godu-Rhysu disciplin of Martial Arts, and
as a former sniper, is one of the best shots in the
Corps. Secretly she admires Capt. N'gellin's ability
to get jobs done, in spite of his infuriating personal
habits, and she strives to focus on the professional
side of their relationship, rather than the fact that
they have "history." Whether she'll be successful is
another matter entirely, as she's not very good at
concealing what's on her mind.
Fiercely loyal to her unit, her CO and the Corps,
Angelica lives by the motto, "Semper Fidelis," and
exemplifies all the best in a Starfleet Marine (even
if she IS a bit too outspoken!).
Personal History:
Angelica Redmond was born outside Omaha,
Nebraska in North America on Earth. Raised in a
Family of farmers, she inherited a strong work ethic
and a fierce loyalty to the things and people she
cares about. Originally, she didn't ever plan on
leaving Earth, content to stay at home and be close to
her Family as she intended to marry her high-school
boyfriend and raise a Family, all in the comfort and
familiarity of Nebraska. Her plans changed rather
rapidly when she caught her boyfriend with another
woman on the night before they were to be married.
Extremely emotional, she attacked them both and very
nearly killed the boy she once loved. After serving a
brief jail sentence for assault, she decided to leave
Omaha and Nebraska, but didn't really have anywhere
else to go. Choosing to get as far away as possible,
she enlisted in the Starfleet Marines, and was soon on
her way to a training camp on Rigel VII.
Academy:
Redmond soon discovered that while her
decision to join the Marines had NOTHING to do with
her desire to be in Starfleet, she was nonetheless
quite good at what she was choosing to do. Her
natural height, coupled with her physical strength,
gave her an advantage over several of the other
trainees, and she quickly found herself as the squad
leader of their trainee unit. Still not too sure of
herself with regards to other people, she WAS sure of
her weapons, and her skill with a long-range phaser
rifle made her a choice pick to be her company's
sniper when she graduated training.
Major/Minor Area(s) of study:
Major: None
Minor: None
Did not attend Starfleet Academy.
Previous Assignments:
Upon graduation,
she was posted to the Marine detachment on board the
USS Farrugut, a Nebula-class ship that was responsible
for maintaining the uneasy truce with the Klingons.
When the truce was eliminated, the Farrugut was
attacked and boarded. The Marines were unable to
repell a Klingon invasion force, who eventually
boarded and destroyed the Farrugut. Redmond and a
handful of other officers escaped...but not the
platoon CO, who'd been injured by the boarding party.
Ashamed that she'd not been able to prevent the
destruction of her ship, Angelica immediately
requested a move to the front lines and was granted
that transfer, moving her to Deep Space Nine, where
she served with a batallion of Marines until the
evacuation of the Station at the start of the Dominion
War.
The Dominion War: Angelica and her squad were moved
to Starbase 138, where she was promoted to Lance
Corporal, but kept her sniper's position. Ordered to
defend a Federation Medical Colony, Redmond's squad
came under heavy fire from the Jem'Hadar. From her
sniper's post, she was able to eliminate more than 35
of the cloned soldiers, but it was not enough to keep
the position from being overrun. The fighting below
her was intense, but she stayed in her elevated post,
continuing to fire as fast as she could pull the
trigger. Her actions undoubtedly saved what was left
of the squad as she managed to eliminate enough
Jem'Hadar to give the squad's reinforcements time to
arrive. When the fight was over, there were 9 energy
cartriges on the ground under the tree where she'd
been concealed! Her kill number rose to 73 before the
day was done, the highest single day total for any
sniper during the war. The medical colony was
evacuated, thanks in no small part to the actions of
Angelica Redmond staying at her post. She was given
the Dominion War Campaign Ribbon, and the Marine Cross
for Valor. As the war drew to a close, her unit was
involved in the official retaking of Betazed from the
Dominion, and for the rest of it, she was stationed
there. After the war ended, she began looking for a
new assignment. Betazed wasn't exactly her speed, and
she felt she needed new challenges. Seeing a new
Starbase open up close to the Romulan Neutral Zone,
she put in for a transfer, and was immediately
granted. The base was in need of good Marines, and
she was surprised to be granted command of a Squad in
1st Platoon. Promoted to Sergeant en route, she
accepted the job, and has spent most of her time since
arriving trying to whip up the squad into a crack
unit, and trying to put her now-common knowledge
"relationship" with Platoon CO Capt. N'gellin out of
her mind!
